Die AG Energiepolitik der Piratenpartei Deutschland lädt herzlich zum Onlinevortrag „Tackle the Energy Hunger of Data Centers with Optics and Photonics“ mit anschließender Gelegenheit zur Frage‑ und Antwortrunde ein.
Die Veranstaltung richtet sich an alle, die sich dafür interessieren, wie KI‑Rechenzentren und digitale Infrastruktur mit deutlich geringerem Energieverbrauch betrieben werden könnten.
Der Vortrag findet am 25. April 2026, ab 20:00 Uhr (18:00 GMT) statt. Über den Big‑Blue‑Button‑Raum unter bbb.piratensommer.de gelangt man zum Vortrag.
Der Vortrag wird von Dr. Adrian Mahlkow (OpTecBB, Netzwerk für Optik und Photonik im Raum Berlin/Brandenburg) auf Englisch gehalten und anschließend in englischer Sprache diskutiert. Die AG Energiepolitik nutzt die Gelegenheit, um die Zusammenhänge zwischen Digitalisierung, Energiepolitik und Klimaschutz zu diskutieren.
Die Veranstaltung wird aufgezeichnet. Teilnehmerliste und Chat sind nicht Bestandteil der Aufzeichnung. Wer anonym teilnehmen möchte, kann Mikrofon und Kamera während der Diskussion deaktiviert lassen; Fragen sind auch über den Chat möglich und werden dann ohne Namensnennung vorgelesen.

The Energy Policy Working Group of the Pirate Party Germany cordially invites you to the online lecture “Tackle the Energy Hunger of Data Centers with Optics and Photonics,” followed by a question-and-answer session.
The event is aimed at anyone interested in how AI data centers and digital infrastructure could be operated with significantly lower energy consumption.
The lecture will take place on April 25, 2026, starting at 8:00 p.m. (6:00 p.m. GMT). You can access the presentation via the Big Blue Button room at bbb.piratensommer.de.
The lecture will be delivered in English by Dr. Adrian Mahlkow (OpTecBB, Network for Optics and Photonics in the Berlin/Brandenburg region) and followed by a discussion in English. The Energy Policy Working Group will use this opportunity to discuss the connections between digitalization, energy policy, and climate protection.
The event will be recorded. The participant list and chat will not be included in the recording. Those who wish to participate anonymously may keep their microphone and camera disabled during the discussion; questions may also be submitted via the chat and will then be read aloud without mentioning the participant’s name.
